Austin Hoaglin
Junior Designer
Trained as an architect, Austin’s interest in lighting started when he began photographing his architectural models. Austin became interested in how light influenced certain qualities within the models which could enhance the design. Today, Austin’s work focuses on how light can reveal architectural qualities such as material texture, color, and spatial perception.
Austin’s interest in light to render architecture and shape the occupant experience led him to completing his MFA in Architectural Lighting Design at Parsons School of Design. At Parsons, Austin’s education encompassed acquiring highly technical knowledge of electric lighting, as well as daylight modeling and emerging technologies such as biologically adapted circadian lighting systems.
Prior to joining Banks Landl Lighting Design, Austin worked in New York on various projects ranging from commercial offices to health care.
