Confidential Professional Services Office

An IES Award winner for ‘Energy and Environmental Design.’ This new flagship innovation hub located in the Salesforce Tower is a striking five-story state-of-the-art collaboration space designed to meld the latest in technology and advanced thinking. Accenture’s office was designed to be modern, dynamic, and collaborative. To achieve this, the lighting was integrated with the architecture to highlight features without interfering with the panoramic views over San Francisco.

“Pioneering new ways to work and apply technology innovation” was the project brief given to the design team. To achieve the lofty goals established by the client early on, advanced controls, heat mapping/occupant sensing, and daylight harvesting we implemented within the lighting design strategy. A harmonious balance was struck between the need for time appropriate light levels and the need for optimal visual, mental, and biological health that was mandated. The use of a circadian lighting design strategy allowed the two opposing elements to function as one cohesively. This resulted in a completed project with a power density near 40% below allowed and in doing so led to the implementation of both a LEED Platinum Certification as well as a WELL Building Certification.

Lighting plays a critical role in the success of the project from both design and technical standpoints. The design team was able to embrace the location, sun exposure, glare control, visual balance, and harness these elements through the use of an advanced lighting strategies and control system in order to have a successful outcome.
