Zendesk
Zendesk’s San Francisco office was designed to be a simple, relaxed and modern work environment. Simple materials were used in sophisticated ways to create a tailor-made space. Custom built-in millwork, decorative channel glass, warm fabric tones and indoor plantings are juxtaposed within an otherwise stark interior. Special moments of rich colors and residential comfort offset the simplicity of the open office and common areas.
The concept for Zendesk’s lighting scheme is soft indirect lighting, complimented by decorative fixtures and focused accent lighting where required. Concealed light coves and indirect wall mounted fixtures illuminate vast swaths of the project’s common areas. This blanket of indirect lighting allows for decorative wall sconces and pendants to punctuate key architectural moments.
The executive briefing center of Zendesk’s headquarters is differentiated from the rest of the project by its residential feel. The boardroom was designed to evoke a formal dining room, while the pantry has many high-end residential kitchen design moves. Recessed pinhole downlights were used in the EBC to reinforce the design prompt while taking advantage of dropped gypsum ceilings. The EBC is punctuated by brightly colored restrooms and a jet-black ‘living room’ that incorporate integrated linear lighting, decorative fixtures and adjustable downlights.
