Katiana Brosz

Designer

For Katie, there is always an opportunity to tell a beautiful story.  That story may be one of sanctuary, of collaboration, of elegance, or innovation but there is always a story to be told.  She strives to create spaces where the environment and lighting design work together in harmony, intentionally crafting each moment to silently bring that story to life.

It was actually a love of rock climbing that sparked Katie’s initial interest in lighting design.  While studying theatre, she would volunteer for any work that involved clambering high in a grid.  Up there, she was fascinated by the way lighting could quietly create infinite worlds with small adjustments to color, direction, and intensity.  She pursued this passion to Gonzaga University, then University of California, Irvine and even to Gnomon School of Visual Effects, to create lighting in its digital form.  Her career has taken her around the world, exploring the medium from all sides as a lighting designer for live events, conventions, immersive installations, opera, dance, and her first love, theatre.

Before joining Banks Landl Lighting Design, Katie worked as a Show Lighting Designer for Walt Disney Imagineering. With WDI, she collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to develop story-driven designs for projects throughout the Disneyland Resort.  There she learned a love and dedication for the minutest details of a design and how the smallest elements could combine to create the richest, most immersive environments.
