SFO International Airport, Terminal 3 Temp. Corridor
A temporary passenger corridor reimagined through light, the SFO installation transforms a utilitarian pathway into a calm, intuitive, and visually engaging transit experience.
The SFO Airport Temporary Corridor was conceived as more than a functional connector—it was an opportunity to enhance passenger experience during a period of transition. The lighting design introduces clarity, rhythm, and visual comfort within a constrained, interim architectural framework.
Continuous linear illumination defines the ceiling plane and reinforces directionality, guiding movement intuitively through the space. Even, glare-controlled ambient lighting reduces fatigue while maintaining the brightness levels required for a high-traffic airport environment. Strategic accents and integrated wall lighting introduce subtle depth and variation, preventing the corridor from feeling monotonous or purely utilitarian.
Durability, maintainability, and energy performance were carefully considered, ensuring the installation met operational demands without sacrificing design intent. The result is a composed, well-lit environment that supports wayfinding, enhances safety, and elevates the passenger journey—even within a temporary condition.
