Uptown Station

A reimagined 1920s landmark, Uptown Station pairs bespoke decorative lighting with layered architectural illumination to transform a monumental atrium into a warm, human-scaled gathering place.

Additional details

Uptown Station revitalizes a historic department store into a contemporary workplace centered around a dramatic, multi-story atrium. The lighting design introduces a custom family of decorative globe fixtures—developed in collaboration with local fabricators—that integrate seamlessly within the building’s exposed steel structure and industrial framework. Suspended at varying heights and mounted along articulated arms, these luminous elements create rhythm, softness, and visual continuity throughout the vertical volume.

Cove lighting, millwork illumination, and integrated planters add depth and warmth at the perimeter, balancing the raw concrete and steel palette. Together, the decorative and architectural layers temper the scale of the expansive space, fostering intimacy and comfort while celebrating the building’s historic character. The result is a refined, atmospheric environment where light becomes the connective tissue between past and present.
