Autodesk Gallery

Autodesk’s Gallery, situated in San Francisco’s bustling downtown, is meant to evoke a feeling of endless creativity in design through the use of it’s products.  To capture the needs of the client, the design team began this remodel project by understanding where Autodesk is and where they want to go as a brand.  The requirement of a hyper-flexible, multi-functional space, both in design and control, created a complex design challenge for the team.  The futuristic design provided the client with a new, edgy opportunity to push their shifting branding efforts forward, which showcases future possibility.

Serving 3 distinct functionalities, an exhibit gallery, executive briefing center and multi-purpose event space, the design creates a single harmonious gesture that can be adaptable yet precise, bright and warm, spacious yet intimate.  Through a detailed design process, the lighting and controls, while complex in need, was provided as a simple user interface to allow for quick and easy change in mood and atmosphere, depending on the shifting demands of the space day to day.

Within the main 20,000 square foot space, ambient and accent layers of light are used to pop the eye-catching and dynamic exhibit displays creating focal points.  The surrounding space and materials, both new/modern and historic, are complimentarily illuminated to create a calming backdrop, accentuate texture and add depth to a wondering space.

The strategic use of lighting, only used to enhance the overall user experience, allowed for an immersive design that compliments the architecture.  Deploying a highly granular control system and supported by a detailed design effort, the project was able to achieve a LEED Platinum certification.
