Confidential Private Equity Firm

Situated atop of Salesforce tower in downtown San Francisco, this confidential private investment firm’s office embraces a hospitality forward lighting concept.  The ever-changing need for offices to accommodate a hybrid work environment required the design team to create a space that drew employees back to the office.

At the forefront of the design, materiality, mood, and atmosphere were key considerations to the design.  A minimal and purposeful approach was used in how an all-LED lighting package would be implemented.  Through an exhaustive detailing and mockup process, every custom integrated source was carefully reviewed to ensure no imaging would be visible and the details cutting edge.  An expansive and costly art program created another key element to focalize throughout the space, which reinforced the design notion of a warm, welcoming spa feeling vs a standard corporate office.

Being an international firm, connectivity worldwide is very important, which equates to no formal schedule in terms of workflow, timing and needs.  To provide this, the lighting design implemented several lighting strategies atypical to the commercial environment: “layers” of light, similar to that of a residential space, which allows for varying needs of lighting in terms of use & “tunable lighting and controls” that allows for variable white light to balance hue and tone of light to match and/or differentiate location and needs.

The ability to provide a space that creates energy within the environment for its users, given its commercial nature, yet remains warm and welcoming in feel was the key challenge answered, a hospitality like retreat imagined.
